Kennebunkport Hillbilly -- humor,tragedy or both? I blog, you decide : )

in

(As sung to the tune of The Beverly Hillbillies theme song)

Come and listen to a story 'bout a boy named Bush
His IQ was zero and his head was up his tush
He drank like a fish while he drove all about
But that didn't matter 'cuz his daddy bailed him out
DUI, that is. Criminal record. Cover up

Well the first thing you know little Georgie goes to Yale
He can't spell his name but they never let him fail
He spends all his time hangin' out with student folk
And that's when he learns how to snort a line of coke
Blow, that is. White gold. Nose candy

The next thing you know there's a war in Vietnam
Kin folks say, "George, stay at home with mom"
Let the common people get maimed and scarred
We'll buy you a spot in the Texas Air Guard
Cushy, that is. Country clubs. Nose candy

Twenty years later George gets a little bored
He trades in the booze, says that Jesus is his Lord
He said, "Now the White House is the place I wanna be"
So he called his daddy's friends and they called the GOP
Gun lovers, that is. Falwell. Jesse Helms

Come November 7th, the election ran late
Kin folks said "Jeb, give the boy your State!"
"Don't let those colored folks get into the polls"
So they put up barricades so they couldn't punch their holes
Chads, that is. Duvall County. Miami-Dade

Before the votes were counted five Supremes stepped in
Told all the voters "Hey, we want George to win"
"Stop counting votes!" was their solemn invocation
And that's how George finally got his coronation
Rigged that is. Illegitimate. No moral authority

Y'all come vote now. Ya hear?

The "Hillbilly named Bush"

Excellent Wayne, now all we have to do is to find someone to sing it:)

Politcal and funny songs

Yankee Doodle's picture

That's a funny parody. Here's a link to a rockin' song about Bush and Katrina, "Katrina and the Man."

I was a guitarist, traveling with many stars, out of Nashville for 20+ years, and before that traveled the whole USA as an entertainer. This was all prior to me getting older than dirt.

I used to perform the original "Beverly Hillbillys" theme live as a novelty fun song at shows. I also used to at one time use the instrumental version of it, I played it on my guitar, as a break song in C&W clubs.

When Wayne posted this, I printed it out and sang it for my daughter and grandson, and she split a gut.

Wally,

Man, do you still play the guitar?

Maybe I'm just dreaming but that would be fantastic to hear you playing
Kenneybunkport Hillbilly?

Will the "Music Police" ( I don't know anything about copyrights) let you record it on a cd or someplace on the net?

Yep ....

I still play, but am a little rusty, although that would disappear fairly quick. I would just have to somehow come up with the money to get some recording software and a Mac mixer for my MBP ....

Then I could record it and post it as a podcast.

I managed to get the program called "Bias". It is a digital recording mastering program. I also have Logic Pro and Garage Band.

I take the fifth ammendment on what I had to do and how I got Bias and Logic.

Both of the programs are missing some key elements that would really help.

I need some kind of mixer that will interface with my Mac.

I don't have anything in the way of video equipment.

My biggest problem in anything is that I am trying to exist on a very embarrassing small disability check, and living in Florida now makes it go even shorter because these damned red state idiots have the price of just about everything inflated ridiculously. I do have an account at CompUSA that makes it possible for me to get Mac stuff tax free, and that helps a little, but I just plain cannot squeeze the money out to get the necessary interface equipment to record this song.

I also managed to transfer some live cover songs and some studio original recordings I made with my bands back in the 80s and have digitally remastered them and put them on CDs. They sound shockingly really good. I recorded them on a really good 4 track live (The live stuff) on a really nice pro sound system I had before a divorce forced me to dump everything in anticipation of a potential court battle, which did not happen because I explained the benefits of "No Fault Divorce" to my ex-spouse.

If I do figure this out I will record it and master it to MP3 and try to find somewhere to upload it for you all.

That is the best I can do at this time.

Come on Rev, when are we gonna see you perform this on You Tube? A guaranteed hit!

As soon as

Reverend Wally's picture

I can get the necessary equipment to do it.

I may just have to settle for recording it and sending out MP3 and AIFF copies.

I am one of those below the poverty level, and do not see any way of doing a video.

And finding someone around here to help me with it is liking waiting to hit the lotto. I am like a blue-green dot in a bright red ocean here.

I was at an anti-war rally here in Lakeland a few months ago and just after I left a twenty something year old neo physically attacked a woman in her fifties who was carrying an anti-war sign. This area, if it were to go under water from global warming would extract no tears from my eyes.

I have not been able to get one person to come for a Draft Gore meet up in Lakeland. The only couple who did come one time were more interested in promoting electric cars and were not even interested in a Gore campaign.

I might add, ask Papabear if I am telling it like it is. He knows.

Kennebunkport Piece Of Work:

That was great...Really Great!!!!!!!!!!!

Please Reverend Wally

Wayne in WA State's picture

I think that's an excellent idea! I would definitely love to see Reverend Wally perform the Kennebunkport Hillbilly song. This would be done on a non-profit, fair use, free speech political parody basis. If you're not charging to view it I wouldn't worry about copyright issues.

Then spread it through this site. Spread it as a pod cast. Maybe even start spreading it around as a "You Tube" video. People will love it!
