what if he doesn't run?

i would imagine many people are hanging back from donating because they don't know where their money will go if he doesn't run. if the average person has $50 to contribute to dem. causes this year, they may figure it's more important to wait until the primaries to let it go to something more "tangible".
al has consistently said he has no plans. how do you get around that at this stage?

Donations to our PAC are spent almost immediately

Dylan's picture

With the tens of thousands of dollars being invested into our printed literature, state of the art netroots organizing tools, advertising, etc. we spend everything we raise directly on the Draft Gore campaign virtually as quickly as we can raise it... if the Vice President decides against running (which we are optimistic will not be the case) there would not be significant funds hanging around at the time.

Donations

I donate regularly to campaigns. Not a lot, about $250 a year. I donate to the Green party and to the Democrats. I donate to move-on. I sign a lot of petitions and send letters to representatives. Those donations are tax deductible, which is a good thing.

Would you mind linking me to the samples of the priinted literature and advertising?

Can I get pieces of this literature to help promote AG in LA? I would like to contribute to AG's campaign but am not yet comfortable with where this money is going and whether I believe that is the best investment of my money, in an effort to get a president with Green Values. Hopefully our next president will be, Al Gore. I'm with you on that!

I'm serious -- I have my credit card in-hard, what will you be spending my money on and what milestones, have been achieved so far with these funds?

Love and Peace ;-)

What if he doesn't run

If the is a strong demand and outcry for change which is already happening, he will. Bush stole the election, refuses to admit envirnmental problems with a whole host of other Bush blunders. He'll run

Do you know something I don't?

Are you an insider? You say, "If there is a strong demand and outcry for change which is already happening, he will.". It would be nice for AG to address his supporters in some way at this point, with an inkling that he is on track for the Presidency. Maybe not say he will run, but give a "sign" from the universe that he is heading a movement leading to run for the presidency.

Al Gore has done so much to bring attention to Global Warming and the environmental movement, so far as a citizen and politician he has been brilliantly sincere and strategic. After a while though, for me it's hard to maintain excitement -- in terms of time and money -- when I see no clear evidence AG will run for president in '08, nor that he is propping up his followers enough -- at this point in time. I feel Al should start seriously posturing like he is leading a movement that will lead to the presidency (Maybe he'll "Come-out" on Earth Day ;-)

After a while, too much "strategy" can feel insincere or a weakness (not facing the competition head-on)... Seems to me most Bush supporters like him because he wears his self serving strategy on his sleeve -- he's not outsmarting anyone ;-) Reds like that Bush is upfront and accessible. IMHO. if Al dances on the fence for too long, he may be perceived as a smarty-pants intellectual -- which is not the profile of an average American. So, what has been an excellent strategy so far-- could backlash on Al. I got tired of spending too much time hoping Al would run, and decided to wait and see. If AG runs I will support him wholeheartedly, and AG is a great man, who should be president...

I used to invest a lot of time and energy here -- and certainly I want Al Gore for President in '08. If AG does plan to run, his strategy has been smart indeed, but I'm ready for a more forthright "sign" from the man who would be president in 2000 and 2008!

gotcha

thanks for making that known, dylan. :-)
