Fellow AlGore.org member wins congressional primary in California

Marta Jorgensen, AlGore.org member and one of our southern California Regional Directors, has won California's 24th congressional district primary race for Congress.

Marta entered the race because of the challenge that Vice President Gore made to the American people. If we agree with his environmental policies, Gore challenged us to either run for political office or make our voices heard through protest. Marta decided to take The Challenge and run for Congress. A funny thing happened. Marta won by 26 points over two seasoned candidates.

Marta is running as a true Gore environmental candidate. Her platform is about making our nation independent of foreign oil and all fossil fuels and to stop global warming before it is too late.

She addresses these issues with a program called E Revolution.

Energy, Environment, Economy, and Education form the backbone of her platform. And then there is Engagement. Without Engagement, none of the other four steps will matter.

Marta is fighting for the Gore environmental agenda with fellow Algore.org members Jim Tate from West Virginia and Bob North from Maryland. Jim and Bob are in California with Marta and will continue to work to see her become the congresswoman from California's 24th District.

Marta needs her fellow Gore supporters to help with contributions and blogging throughout this campaign. The Democratic Party has given Marta's campaign little help, so Marta and her supporters are running a true grassroots campaign. This past Saturday, Marta received an endorsement from Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) and also from the California AFL-CIO. Now she needs all the help she can get from her fellow Gore supporters.

Please help make this happen. We are so close to having one of our own AlGore.org members elected to Congress.
