Hillary Clinton Will Win and She has Shown True Leadership and Grace Under Fire
Hillary Clinton Will Win and She has Shown True Leadership and Grace Under Fire Despite the following:
Obama and the 1992 LA Riots
I am not a Racist, and am in fact a Peace activist, and have always been outspoken against racism. I’m also a Hillary Clinton supporter, though I wasn’t always. At one time I thought she was rather cold, and I didn’t like her. I wanted Gore to run for President, and was part of a group of people trying to “Draft Gore” to run, be he chose not to. After that, I heard Obama speak and was amazed and impressed, by how eloquent he is a how he spoke of Hope and Change, and creating a New Environment in Washington.
What changed my mind was the more I listened to Obama the more I started to feel uncomfortable about his motivation, and intentions versus the messages I was hearing. As an environmental advocate I have heard many motivational speeches, and I started to sense that Obama lacked true sincerity. I like to listen closely to what people say and learn from their words, and hear a call to action that will motivate my own efforts to make the world a better place, and I wasn’t hearing that from Obama, more than anything his words of encouragement centered around supporting him and not what he would do for our country.
The more I listened to Obama’s speeches, again and again; I wasn’t hearing a real call to action from Obama. Instead I was hearing reasons why, with no real experience in leadership, we should trust him to lead the USA. It then occurred to me that Obama was not ready to lead because I had no confidence in his words that seemed all Trusting Him, and Having Faith in Him, and Throw Out The Old and Bring in the New, because change is better. At that point, I stopped trusting Obama, because I felt, Obama is not ready to lead the USA, he is ready to evangelized about why he should lead US, because he really wants to be the President of the USA. Then when Edward Kennedy, a man who has been a Senator forever, became Obama’s most prominent endorsement, following Oprah, who is really, “The Oldest Old Boy in the Senate”. I thought, Obama says one thing and does another, I feel like people are being conned.
I feel sorry for Hillary, and mostly I feel sorry for the American people and the Democratic Party. Even if Obama loses the nomination he will try again now that he is well known. In the process of his rise from Junior Senator to Front Runner, he has torn apart the Democratic Party. There has not been so much racism in the Democratic Party since Wallace. At One time I thought, OK, Obama is bringing out new voters and drawing a crowd with his excellent Orator skills, why not Clinton/Obama. As Time went on Obama became more a more aggressive, and underhanded, and I started to be scared for our country. No one in modern times has ever run for President with so little experience and more and more I was seeing headlines that said things like “Obama want to run a friendly election and change the way we do things”, yet he was doing just the opposite. Believe were starting to believe his messages more and more. He was playing very card in the deck – Racism – Black people who had formerly supported Hillary, were now becoming an impenetrable block for Obama. Sexism – White men that in the past had opposed affirmative action (I supported it) were turning to Obama because they did not want to see a woman, break the glass ceiling of the Presidency which had always been a men only spot. The Press was afraid to criticize him, because there had been so many cases of reporters being fired for racism, and with race being such a huge factor in Obama’s campaign, and his tactics so intimidating, while he claimed to be a peacemaker, to oppose him was to take a chance that most people are not willing to take – To Stand Up and Oppose a Crowd and Tell Them What They Are Doing is Wrong and Will Not Get Them Where They Want To Be In Life.
Obama is a contender, that’s for sure, but he is not running a fair campaign, as he claims, and he is not a straight shooter. All I hear is double-talk. He’s good at it. So is President Bush, but that’s not the change I want to see in this country. For that kind of change we can elect McCain, who I trust much more than Obama. If Obama is the democratic nominee McCain will be the change that Obama delivered. The worst part is that I don’t think Obama will care, because he cares more about his personal ambitions than he cares about being a Democrat or showing true leadership.
When the press made it known Obama was running a campaign based on “His [Obama’s] Inspiring Words” and borrowing all his greatest words from Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and entire passages from Deval Patrick, Patrick the only one who is living defended Obama, and the Press let it go. When Obama’s claim that he does not take money from Special Interests and in fact he certainly does, and there is a long list, he said Hillary’s list is longer, and I thought, Hillary is honest about what she is doing, and Obama not only refuses to accept criticism or take responsibility for being wrong, but twists the truth, into half-truths, and then uses it as a way to point the finger at Hillary, and it works! -- Again and Again. There is a double standard in this race, as clear as the glass ceiling that will not accept that Hillary, a woman who spent 8 years as a Senator, and has done much more for Obama to bring change, and is well respected in DC and all around the world, can not break the glass ceiling that is the unspoken law that a woman must not be elected to the Presidency, and that real men and Black people must vote for Obama.
This situation reminds me of the 1992 Rodney King riots.
“The Los Angeles riots of 1992, also known as the Rodney King uprising, were sparked on April 29, 1992 when a jury acquitted four police officers accused in the videotaped beating of black motorist Rodney King when he resisted arrest following a high-speed car chase. Thousands of African-Americans in the Los Angeles area commenced to a riot over the six days following the verdict. Widespread looting, assault, arson and the occasional murder occurred, many gang-motivated or perpetrated. In all, 53 people died during the riots”
“We had begun to get reports of scattered violence shortly after we had watched on television the barbaric video tape of motorists being ripped out of their cars, hammered, pounded and chased by rock-throwing men on the ground. The image of a man, later identified as Reginald Denny, being pulled from his truck by thugs, still burned in my mind. My memory was seared by the vivid imprint of the motionless, beaten man lying on the ground, being kicked and brutalized. I was still filled with rage at the sight of one of the assailants picking up a large piece of cinder-block and throwing it at his apparently lifeless body, smashing him in the head. Then, after the savage beating, the attacker appeared to do a dance, raise his hands towards the helicopter overhead and flashed a gang sign. Then, to my utter disbelief, another person on the street reached into the pocket of the fallen driver and stole his wallet.”
This seems to be a crowd mentality about Obama and his message that reminds me of a Christian Fundamentalist Preacher’s ability to woo a crowd, often encouraging violence, and actions that are against their usual sense of right and wrong, but they do it anyway, because they are told this is what “God” wants. Obama actually promised a crowd he would bring the Kingdom down to earth. This from a man who has not track record to speak of and offers only a promise, that if we have faith, he will Unite us all and make the USA and the world a better place.
Every day, I am more impressed with Hillary’s leadership ability and grace under fire. She did not throw in the towel even though we all read headlines everyday that say, “Obama says Hillary should Drop out of the Race”, because he said, “Hillary is hurting the Democratic party.” Obama in my opinion has truly torn apart the Democratic Party, like no one could have imagined.
In November, I’m certain, people will see the wisdom in choosing experience over words. They say in advertising if you tell people something 8 times they will believe it. Obama said he would bring change we can believe in 27 times in one speech.
Hillary doesn’t get much opportunity in the press because they want to tell us what Obama did today, and what he eats for breakfast. He’s new, and that’s interesting to reporters, and I can understand their reluctance to step on his toes, with all the liability that could be involved. Hillary cares about the future of Democrats and does not want to criticize another Democrat too harshly, and that works in Obama’s favor. If Obama faces McCain, McCain will surely win. If Hillary faces McCain, I believe she will win.
If Obama had patience, and had spent some time earning a track record as a Senator before teaming up with Oprah, and taking his show on the road, he may well have developed into someone who I would trust at 3AM in the morning. At this point, I don’t trust Obama’s judgment at all. Hillary has proven to me, through words and deed, she is a brilliant and loyal leader who Americans can depend on.

Be part of the Draft Gore '08 campaign!

If you're implying
that the truck-driver getting beaten up during the LA riots is symptomatic of anything here - I just hope that Hillary or the Republicans wouldn't sink that low in terms of negative campaigning .
I'm saying It's symtomatic of crowd mentality gone wrong
I have watched this race unfold and at first Hillary was so concerned with protecting the reputation of Obama as another Democrat, while he kept attacking here again, and again. Hillary has really shown grace and strength under fire, considering that the Press does not even know how to handle reporting on Obama, because when race is an issue, one wrong word and your career can be over. So I find the reporting unfair, and Obama is using the advantage every way he can.
I do feel that the "Crowd" has been beating up Hillary unfairly, and I feel more confident that Hillary has proven her ability to be a great President and deliver the change people want and need.
I also feel that Obama has not United anyone and in fact has torn us apart, but he never owns up to any mistakes. Not that I'd expect him to in an election, but he seems unqualified to be President, IMHO.
"A Kinder Gentler America" was Bush Seniors campaign theme and I have not heard anything new from Obama, I'm sorry I disagree with you Stealth.
push through the fear
I imagine supporters of Senator Clinton are nervous, afraid, and disappointed at this time. Barack Obama stands between Hillary and winning the nomination. About their last argument is to create a sense of fear in people's minds that HRC will keep us safe and Obama won't. I'm not buying that myself. Hopefully this part of the contest will be over soon and we can all ask ourselves if we want a President John McCain.
Hillary will Win OH, TX, VT, RI
Hey Wayne...
I see your point.... but... Once Obama's winning streak is over, and Hillary wins TX, OH, VT, and RI, it will take the wind Out of Obama's sails.
I imagine Obama is the one that's afraid. That's why he keeps saying Hillary should drop out, It's not that Obama has won way more delegates, as McCain has.
Hillary will win, when all is said and done, and Hillary will face McCain and Win!
Hillary '08
This is a good place for a bully (Yabu)
Great piece
If you were attacking a repug like that, I would kind have gotten your point. But, if you are trying to convince me to believe all those things about a Democrat... squash it.
I don't believe Hillary is that dangerous. None of the Democratic Parties nominees fit your description of Barack Obama.
If Barack Obama's agenda is dangerous & Hillary's agenda has very little differences, what does that tell you about Hillary's agenda?
It is the reason why the kind of politicking the Clintons are trying has failed so drastically. Try using realistic reasons for not voting for Barack Obama.
Your style of politicking is also the reason why the Clintons have so many enemies & why the Clintons shouldn't be trusted on the vp ticket. They always have used the all or nothing strategy.
P.S.
I like your style ArtySmartyPants, you can always hang out @ any of my threads.
live free or die trying!
Black Cell I Understand Your Feelings...
BC, as I have said before, if I was Black, I'd probably be so excited to have a brilliant Black man running for President, but I see too many mistakes, and half-truths, and bullying, so I just can't support Obama.
The first time I heard him speak, I thought WOW! I even told my famiily and friends to consider voting for him, but as time went on I decided, he was doing something before he had gained enough maturity as a leader and I do not trust him to assume the most important job in the world.
I have confidence that Hillary is a capable candidate, who has a more solid record of change and accomplishments and I feel that talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words. I really do believe that if Obama is nominated, he will have proved a point and in the General election that people will chose experience over Hope.
I have Hope and Faith already, but I don't trust Obama to bring the Kingdom down to Earth. I also believe Hillary can face McCain and win and feel Obama won't. Obama is already complaining about Hillary, and McCain will bring out the big guns. Obama is not clean as a whistle and Hillary's dirty laundry is already aired.
I'm sorry we don't agree on this one but I certainly respect your choice to vote for Obama.
Peace ;-)
Considering the fact that Hillary Clinton NEVER
managed a crisis of any kind, I repeat: she never managed a crisis of any kind!!
the ad is beyond ridiculous.
Answering the Phone at 3 AM?
Whose call?
And why would that person call at 3 AM?
And what would say tell him/her?
Well, she doesn't tell us.
She just wants us to believe that she is more qualified to manage crises because....
well....because she says so.
Makes sense, right?
NOT. This is bullshit and she knows it.
By the way - thank you
Greetings BC
I believe that this website is a lot more interesting and challenging and active because of your participation. Thank you Black Cell! Arty is cool too.
You Know I love You Wayne & BC Too ;-)
At least we can say what we think in the USA!!!
I really do respect diversity so no hard feelings. this is a tough race.
I don't see the connection
with the Rodney King riots , what exactly are you trying to say here ?
Obama is not being Honest but he is drwaing a crowd...
I feel that "crowd" mentality is taking over and people are not using good judgment. HOPE is a great marketing idea but I feel people should know more about what Obam's plans are to create the Change, if they claim they are bringing Change.
Right now I'm l;stening to the guy that wasn't in the Senate, when a NEW YORK SENATOR was told by Colin Powel that Iraq has weapons of Mass destruction, then when he gets to the US Senate, he has voted to support the Wra again and again. What's up with that. He could have said once he was a Senator, I am against the war and so I will not vote to support it. That agrgument is grasping at straws and gives me no confidence his message.
He says, in essence, once the IRAQ was started BY HILLARY... and once he had the opportunity to vote, he had to keep voting to fund it. NOT TRUE. If Obama had voted against continued funding, it that would be a clear statement, against the war. Had he done that, it certainly would not have stopped any funding to our troops, but I would take his claims about not voting for the war (while still an Illinois Senator) seriously, At this point, I don't believe in Obama's Judgment, and I don't feel he is being honest. My strongest "fear" is that he will win the nomination and I don't see him winning the Presidency on such a weak platform
Plus there is a lot of Bullying coming from Obama and his supporters.
