Anti-war mom Cindy Sheehan gives up her protest
Posted May 28th, 2007 by butterfly
Cindy Sheehan, the mother who became an anti-war leader after her soldier son was killed in Iraq, says she is walking away from the peace movement. Sheehan says her son died "for nothing." And she says her activism has cost her health, her husband and her savings...

Sheehan
Thank GOD!
Being"right" and angry and bitter cost her everything.
Her son did not die for nothing, the gall, to insult the memory of an honorable son who gave his life to serve others.
The shame is we don't put the same verve into fixing our own "man in the mirror" that we do into the middle east. Of course, we don't pay ourselves like they pay us.
It's OK to protest, but to go on for years, losing surviving family fueled by self-righteous indignance was just too ugly to watch. The arrogance.
I hope she does heal her family.
What do the Democrats have to say for themselves?
Any comments, in response? What does Al have to say. This is sad stuff. She was great.
We Owe a Great Deal to this Courageous Woman....
I think all of us owe a great deal to Cindy Sheehan. Faced with the death of her son in Iraq, she has been scorned, smeared and marginalized by her critics, most of whom do not have loved ones fighting George's wars. Her plight really resonates with me. She believed in a system which is nothing more than a revolving door for lobbyists and liars. If all of us had just an ounce of her courage, we could turn this country around.
I just signed an email Thanking her
I think it was sent out by MoveOn.org but I can't find the link now. If I run across it or another one I will post a link here. Sorry. Anybody else seen it?
Thank You Cindy
I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I know it never goes away. As a two year Veteran of combat in Vietnam I know you never forget the faces. Their with you every night and rob you of sleep. But your loss is so much more painful than mine could ever be.
I thank you for seeing the stupidity of Bush's war and having the courage to stand up to him, even though he was too big a coward to face you just as he was too big a coward to go and fight when called. He doesn't mind sending others to die but he would never go himself. He wouldn't even face you who lost so much.
My heart bleeds for you and always will. And for your son and all those I held as they died in Vietnam I thank you with all that is in me.
May God always bless you.
Al
