GLOBALIZATION, POLLUTION AND GLOBAL WARMING

Consensus has been reached that due to (and at the present rate of) human activities -- consumption and industrialization -- world pollution and greenhouse effect will reach levels of catastrophic proportions within decades.
Consequences cited are:
~ Depletion of planets resources of raw materials -- mining, extraction and deforestation
~ Expansion of Dead Zones and Desertification due to intensified agricultural activities
~ Global Warming due to the greenhouse effect from industrial activities of burning of fossil fuels
Today, world leaders and organizations are taking the issue seriously. Yet two very big and fundamental factors seem to be overlooked.

First, GDP economic indicator --
The world is locked into a world economy system whereby exponential growth of GDP, measured in terms of consumption, spending and industrial activity ( the very activities that cause world pollution and global warming), must be assured by a nation if it is to remain in the GLOBALIZATION RACE.

Second, the intensification of industrialization by developing nations --
With China, India, and Brazil (together equaling 40% of the world's population), we may see the catastrophic effects of world pollution and global warming sooner than what scientists predict.

With the present world economy system and globalization any effort to try to curtail global warming and world pollution is effectively canceled out, indeed overun, each time a nation proudly announces how high its GDP has increased.

China in recent years has climbed to 2-digit growth, with India following close behind...Brazil?

If you tally in that the calculations were made on devalued currencies -- the industrial activities realized in these countries are vastly higher than those of the industrial activities operating in the western countries.

Example:
Compare the level of pollution created from 1 billion dollars worth of industrial activity in China to the level of pollution created from 1 billion dollars worth of industrial activity in Europe.

It is the reason why we are seeing the acceleration of the melting Artic.
