Alt Party-But Still A Democrat
I'm new, so please don't bite my head off. I may be posting this in the wrong kind of forum, but my thoughts are in the right place. Has anyone looked at the alternative ways for Al Gore to reach the White House?
I have long hoped that former V.P. Al Gore would announce his candidacy for the '08 elections. To that end, the draft campaign is to be commended for taking action, accordingly. But there are other ways for Gore to reach the White House. Namely, he declare himself an independent, stand for real change (one that isn't always possible with a bipartisan political system), and distinguish himself as the candidate of choice not only for the green contingent but for all those who remain uninspired and skeptical of the present choices in traditional party candidates.
The Draft Gore movement is now a strong voice, and part of a wider coalition of multiple groups that could help him mount a reasonable campaign, independent of securing the Democratic nomination (I'm a big fan of contigency planning).
While the move may not win him many friends in the upper echeolons of the Democratic Party, as both a Washington insider and outsider (not a bad thing) Al Gore has a record for effecting change and an experience base that is impressive by any standard-enough to sway Democratic loyalists and independents alike. While the attempt might compromise an officially-sanctioned 2012 bid, four years is an awfully long time to wait for real change.

Be part of the Draft Gore '08 campaign!
