Reusable Shopping Bags with "GORE 2008 -- and 2012" ---

The news is full of articles expressing concern about plastic grocery bags. San Francisco is trying to ban them altogether (maybe by now they have). My grocery store sells some reusable sacks (probably made out of a product manufactured out of oil) with the store's logo for about $2.50 each.

WHAT ABOUT THE PAC (if it has the money) fronting the production of a limited number of CANVAS TOTES with a Gore logo (lots of good ones -- maybe even try a few different ones and give people a choice).

THE idea entails those of us willing to hit the pavement getting a number of these totes, selling them, and then sending the cash (or unsold bags in the event of such an unthinkable result) to the coordinator of this effort. We'd sell them at a price that is competitive with the grocery store's tote (if possible) but at a price that would cover the cost of producing them -- getting them to the sellers -- and a $1.00 (?) profit for the draft Gore campaign (if they sell easily at this price -- maybe we could hike the price on the next round). I suggest a logo that can still be used once Gore is running.

I think the same people who are signing petitions would rather carry a "Gore" logo tote than a Walmart, Giant Food or Safeway tote. If shoppers are into the environmental issue they will be proud to carry the Gore logo!

I apologize in advance for not volunteering to coordinate this effort. (I'm not sure yet if I'm even personally allowed to make sales -- but will look into this further if the idea flies.)

The tote will give everyone an easy way to start doing their part (the sellers towards fund raising, the buyers towards reducing their carbon footprints) ..

(3) Sell T-shirts, reusable canvas bags, b-ball caps etc. with Gore logos on this site (other cites are selling stuff, but it's not always clear that the money is going to Gore).

A. Gore T-shirts etc. with the "blue marble" (earth from space) in place of the "o" in G"O"RE. (I like a black background instead of the white seen on other cites).
