AlGore -- Virginia Groups/Volunteers

in

All the Virginia volunteers working to draft Gore were so disappointed that we could not put Al Gore's name on the Virginia Democratic primary ballot.

Gore Still a Possible Candidate

There are a lot of "news" stories that say in the opening paragraph that Gore is not going to run for president. If you keep reading each story, you will find that the writer bases this (faulty) conclusion on Gore's statement that he has "no plans to run."

Now, I have been taught to read carefully and parse the meaning of words. I am absolutely certain that the phrase "I have no plans to run" does NOT mean "I will not run," and does NOT mean that "I am not going to run."

Importance of the Draft Petition

How are we to maintain a vibrant democracy when political debate has fallen to "raise your hand if you believe in creationism" and all the political candidates on the stage raise their hands? How do we believe in politicians when a stage full of presidential candidates raise their hands to show they don't believe in the theory of evolution (because they think that's the popular response). How will we have meaningful elections when the newspapers no longer report news and radio talk shows spread untruths and a chorus full of "dittos"?

Al -- You've Educated Us -- So What's Next? Make It Happen!!!

There are many of us that would rather spend the day at the beach or the ball park than take the time to learn about what's happening in Iraq, what's happening to our environment, and what's happening to our economy. Al's been trying to educate us for years -- and we've been doing our best to play hookey! But, with hundreds of speeches, a movie, a couple of books and world wide rock concerts, Al may finally get through and educate even those of us that are the most hard core slackers. But --- so what? So what if we're educated if we don't do anything?

Where's the Enthusiasm?

in

I notice that the blogging and forum chat has slowed on this site -- and there's hardly anyone ever in the chat room. I have a few comments and suggestions:

First, Al is going to run! Don't doubt it for a second. He's raising tons of money (he's on tour speaking -- and raising enormous amounts of money -- at $100,000 at one, $200,000 at another! He can finance his whole campaign on his pocket change -- so don't lose your enthusiasm just because he's not posting his finances along with the other candidates!)

Inhofe -- Just Nazis - Not Live Earth?

Senator James Inhofe (R- OK) vowed to block the Live Earth concert from taking place in Washington, D.C. on the Capitol's west front lawn. Inhofe defends his behavior by stating, "There has never been a partisan political event at the Capitol, and this is a partisan political event. ... There's no compromise. Either we change the rules or we don't."

Hypocrites? They Can Save Lives Too!

Gore critics are trying to dispell Gore's message with a single word: "Hypocrite"

Rather than learn the facts about global warming and debate the issues on the merits, the anti-Gore crowd just attacks Gore personally and they have reduced their attacks to a one word sound bite.

Let me rebut the "hypocrite" story with one of my own.

Where's the U.S.?

March 10, 2007

Dear Mr. Gore,

Hidden on page A15 of today's Washington Post (above the "Herniated Disc?" advertisement) is an article about the leaders of the European Union agreeing to work together to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the coming years. They agreed to cuts even beyond the targets of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on global warming.
