getting late to save America...

I am concerned (yet again) that we are making the wrong turns on a path that may very well lead to even further loss...Obama simply does not have the experience to be as effective as he ay want to be...however, I find it increasingly difficult to know what he really wants to achieve...It's become increasingly aparent that he'll say whatever is necessary to get votes...He's equated (that nutty) rev wright with his grandmother-out of one side of his face...which should have quelched his hope to further himself (even an extra day)in the primary...then within a few days, he's completely left the guy out in the rain as if he'd never seen him before, yet knew he was contageous with a fatal disease...Again, that action itself should have been an insight into how this guy operates...blacs have come out to vote in record numbers to lace votes for Obamma...simply because of his skin color , yet I've listened to numerous blacks who are extremely disappointed in the lack of support for Hillary by other blacks...Obama simply IS NOT ready for the office...nor can he deliver on even a small portion of the vague comments he's made...
Although, I don't have the terrorized feeling I experienced after the Gore - jr debate 8 years ago...and i'm certainly no psychic...i don't have a very good feeling about this...I continue to think McCain's camp wants Obama to win the dem primary...They surely have a warehouse full of doubt evoking tricks, coments, histories and more that will flood every avenue as soon as he's locked in...Hillary is without question, the best choice right now...especially with Bill right there...Remember, HE DID FACE AN AWFUL NASTY PLATE FULL WHEN HE TOOK office after tha last bush (sr) fiasco and was able to turn us around....put this country back in the black in record time...and Hillary was right there...working for this country...Barack only won his 1st election 10 years ago...and it was under very cloudy skies....I justy think we're making a critical mistake here...at the most critical time...and my worst fear is that we'll be under another 4 years of a senile bush-a-like...I thkink we'd be safer with another actor in the white house versus a chameleon that can't act...

The Experience BS

Dick Cheney has experience. Bu$h was an experienced oil man & we ended up with over $4 a gallon for gas. Colon Powell was an experienced Military General & failed to do his job. The Clintons were suppose to be extremely intelligent & great campaigners, yet they were out flanked by the person you are calling inexperienced. I can remember all those over qualified congressmen who were hoodwinked into a war that had nothing to do with Sept. 11th; what did their experienced get us? WAR, WAR & more WAR. Joe Lieberman is suppose to be experienced & qualified & he makes a fool out of himself everyday.

Your experience BS is just an emotion that has gone wild.

What you should be afraid of is the over qualified John McCain who wants to use his experience to wait until Iran gets a nuclear weapon before he decides to go to war with them. Why not use the negotiation avenues we have to undermine them politically?

If war is suppose to be the last result. what is the first solution? do nothing. Wait & hope they change their mind. What are we suppose to be doing while Iran is working on building a nuclear weapon, preparing for war?

'Unavoidable' attack on Iran looms, says Israeli minister

An Israeli minister has said an attack on Iran's nuclear sites will be "unavoidable" if Tehran refuses to halt its alleged weapons programme.

In the most explicit threat yet by a member of Ehud Olmert's government, Shaul Mofaz, a deputy prime minister, said the hardline Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, "would disappear before Israel does".

"If Iran continues with its programme for developing nuclear weapons, we will attack it. The sanctions are ineffective," Mofaz, who is also Israel's transport minister, said in comments published today by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

"Attacking Iran in order to stop its nuclear plans will be unavoidable."

Iranian-born Mofaz is a former army chief and defence minister. He is a member of Olmert's security cabinet and leads regular strategic coordination talks with the US state department.

Iran denies trying to build nuclear weapons and has defied western pressure to abandon uranium enrichment.

The leadership in Tehran has threatened that if attacked the country will retaliate against Israel - believed to have the Middle East's only nuclear arsenal - and American targets in the region.

Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for Israel to be wiped off the map since becoming president. On Monday, he said Israel was "about to die and will soon be erased from the geographical scene".

Olmert met the US president, George Bush, on Wednesday to discuss concerns over Iran. The Israeli prime minister, who is being pressured to resign over a corruption scandal, has said that Iran's nuclear threat "must be stopped by all possible means".

Israeli planes bombed Syria in September, destroying what the US administration said was a partly built nuclear reactor using North Korean help. Syria denied having any such facility. UN inspectors announced this week that they would be visiting Syria to investigate the American claim.

The RNC says this about Barack Obama.

Obama Claims He Will Listen To Commanders On The Ground, But Previously Said He Would Set The Mission And Has Made No Effort To Hear Their Views

Today, Obama Claimed That He Would Be Open To Listening To Commanders On The Ground And What They Advised Regarding Withdrawal From Iraq:

Obama Told CNN's Candy Crowley That He Was Open To "Facts And To Reason" With Regard To His Plan For Withdrawal From Iraq. Crowley: "You have said you want to go back to Iraq." Obama: "Yeah." Crowley: "See what the situation is on the ground. Is there nothing that they could show you or that General Petraeus could tell you that would move you from wanting to immediately begin removing U.S. troops?" Obama: "Well, you know, I never say there's nothing or never or no way in which I'd change my mind. Obviously, I'm open to the facts and to reason. And there's no doubt that we've seen si gnificant improvements in security on the ground in Iraq." (CNN's "The Situation Room," 6/5/08)

But Previously, Obama Committed To Removing Troops From Iraq Regardless Of What Military Commanders Advised:

Obama Committed To Withdrawing Troops From Iraq Regardless Of The Advice He Received From Commanders On The Ground. ABC's Charles Gibson: "And, Senator Obama, your campaign manager, David Plouffe, said, 'When he is' -- this is talking about you - 'When he is elected president, we will be out of Iraq in 16 months at the most. There should be no confusion about that.' So you'd give the same rock-hard pledge, that no matter what the military commanders said, you would give the order to bring them home?" Obama: "Because the commander-in-chief sets the mission, Charlie. That's not the role of the generals. And one of the things that's been interesting ab out the president's approach lately has been to say, 'Well, I'm just taking cues from General Petraeus.' Well, the president sets the mission. The general and our troops carry out that mission." (Sen. Barack Obama, Democrat Presidential Candidate Debate, Philadelphia, PA, 4/16/08)

Obama Said As Commander-In-Chief, It Would Be His Job To "Set The Mission" In Iraq. Obama: "I will listen to General Petraeus given the experience that he has accumulated over the last several years. It would be stupid of me to ignore what he has to say. But it is my job as president, it would be my job as commander in chief, to set the mission, to make the strategic decisions in light of the problems that we're having in Afghanistan, in light of the problems that we are having in Pakistan, the fact that Al Qaida is strengthening, as our national intelligence estimates have i ndicated, since 2001." (Fox's "Fox News Sunday," 4/27/08)

Obama Has Made No Effort To Meet One-On-One With Gen. David Petraeus:

Obama Confirmed That He Has Never Attempted To Meet With Gen. Petraeus. Question: "He's saying outside of those meetings on the Hill, you would not set up your own meetings with General Petraeus, never attempted to meet with him?" Obama: "And I haven't - look, it's just a flippant comment, it's not designed to actually talk about substance. It's a political comment that doesn't get anywhere." (Sen. Barack Obama, Press Conference, 5/28/08)

Obama Has Not Met With Troops Or Commanders On The Ground In Iraq In Over Two Years:

Obama Was In Iraq For Two Days In 2006. "Obama ... met with U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Saturday [January 6, 2006]. He said before his two-day trip to Iraq that he wanted to ask U.S. commanders what a realistic time frame was for bringing troops home." (Jason Straziuso, "Obama Says Minorities Must Be More Involved I n Iraq's Government," The Associated Press, 1/7/06)

It Has Been 879 Days Since Obama Visited Troops And Commanders In Iraq. (GOP Website, www.gop.com, Accessed 5/29/08)

Obama Communications Director Robert Gibbs Said That Obama Would Go To Iraq To See How He Can Withdraw Our Troops:

Gibbs Said That Obama Was Considering A Trip To Iraq To See How He Could Begin Removing Troops. MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski: "And, Robert, is your candidate - I mean, just this whole Iraq thing is now being revitalized a bit because of the book. But is your candidate going to go to Iraq? Is that in the plans?" Gibbs: "Well, as he said yesterday Mika, it's under discussion about going overseas and going to Iraq sometime between now and the campaign. You know, I don't think we'll be taking that trip with John McCain because as Senator Obama said yesterday, the work that the men and women i n our military are doing over there is just far too important for them to be props in some sort of political stunt or photo-op. You know, what they're doing over there is separated from their families, giving for their country. It's truly, truly amazing, and I think we would want to go over there and talk to them and see what sort of difficulties they're facing and see how it is that we can begin to carefully remove them and carefully bring them back to their families and bring them back to the United States." (MSNBC's "Morning Joe," 5/29/08)

Just a question or two, if I may?

Medullan Marauder's picture

My dear Sir Vertual (is this supposed to be Virtual?) you state with great trepidation the fact that Mr. Obama "only won his 1st election 10 years ago" and "it was under very cloudy skies" (what the weather has to do with it, I don't know).

My question, my dear Sir, is how many years ago was it that Mrs. Clinton won her first election?

By my recollection, Mrs. Clinton first became a Senator in 2000, the same year as Chimpy became President, as her first elected office. First Lady is not an elected position by my reckoning.

So where does that leave us?

What is experience?

GOPstopper's picture

Exactly what experience qualifies one to be President of the USA? If you are looking for specific experience in a similar role, then only a couple of possibilities exist -- either you were the president of another country, or you were governor of a large state. Neither Clinton, nor McCain, nor Obama have relevant experience. It is ALWAYS somewhat a role of the dice when we elect a president, because NOTHING can prepare someone for this job.

What I particularly dislike about Clinton's remarks about experience is the insinuation that she DOES have some. She's a one-term senator and a former first lady. These are not any better qualifications for the presidency than what Obama has on his resume.

One has to ask, if --as she claims-- Clinton has been serving Americans all her life, how is that? She's no spring chicken. She's been around a LONG time for someone with such a short resume.
