It's beginning....

We've all been waiting for something to break. And this is the best way it can break...suddenly...when everyone has decided that the election is almost all but over......this comes through Karen Wunderman, Cheif of Staff of AlGore.org. orginally from Roy Gayhart in California:

"There's no point in me rewriting what our San Diego organizer and state director Roy Gayhart sent out a little while ago. He sums it up perfectly. In response to news reports coming out of Singapore (where Gore currently is), Roy sent me the following:

--------------------------------------

You know we have been saying that Al’s language needs to begin to shift in August. I believe the following coverage is the latest step toward inching in the direction that we want and need:

He has not changed his message “I have no plans to run in 2008,” but for the first time he is shifting “I haven’t ruled out running in the future,” to “I may re-enter politics at some point in the future because I’m only 59.”

Then he begins to set up the thing he will likely point to when he announces he’s coming in for 2008: “There is no single candidate that is putting forward a comprehensive argument about the environment or making climate change a priority," Gore said. “"I will continue to work so that public opinion will push all candidates to make climate a priority."

It’s August 9. The language shift has begun! I believe this further underscores the importance of our California Draft Gore campaign and the importance of other states to embrace similar ballot initiatives. We need to build the momentum."

Thanks to Karen for sending this and Roy for originating it..

It's a gonna happen

This is music to my ears. Another piece of the greatest "un-campaign" ever. Of course he did not say that he plans to run in 2008 this week. If he did that it would be tantamount to declaring his candidacy. Al Gore saying he "may re-enter politics at some point in the future because I'm only 59" is very significant. Just when some people were despairing and needing a sign; we get one!

AL GORE TO RUN IN 2008?

I watched the Democratic Debate last night, and there was only one question on the environment. Hillary commented on her "green" plan. I don't think any of the current candidates will make the environment a priority. Only Al Gore seems to think that we are at the critical point where we need to make changes now. Only as President could he make sure that these issues are addressed. Al knows that it will take years to retool the auto industry, and to fund solar and alternative research. We need to rewrite the textbooks to teach our children the truth about global warming. All of these things take time to implement. It is time for him to be a candidate now so that as President, he can sign the bills and treaties so important to his goals.

Poker face

It's called keeping your cards close to the vest. Good for him, I hope he's really going to go for it. If and when he wants in, we're going to be there in a big way to support him.
