Australian Candidate, Rudd, who earned the support of Al Gore has won the election.
Mr. Rudd's reach out to Mr. Gore and promising to make the Environment one of the most important issues he would address, garnered Mr. Gore's support and it seems to have paid off.
WOOOOHOOOO!!!! Rudd elected, Howard booted!

Howard's own seat in Sydney in doubt with half the ballots counted
SYDNEY, Australia (CNN) -- Opposition leader Kevin Rudd greeted jubilant supporters Saturday night, as he promised changes in environmental, education and workplace policies as Australia's new prime minister.
"I will be a prime minister for all Australians," he told the cheering crowd. "Let us be the generation that seizes the opportunity of today to invest in the Australia of tomorrow. That's the mission statement we have as the next government of this country."

Gore is not running for President, enough already
Attn: LindainSFNM
I know you've heard the news, Al Gore is not running for President and our efforts to try to get Al Gore to run for the Presidency should be halted. Pick another candidate, hopefully a Democrat. I hope we can all unite in picking the one for our support and not Al Gore.
Re: Beware Typical Republican Attacks
Let's all be aware that there are going to be the typical Republican attacks accusing Democrats of being childish, unpatriotic and immature when all the Democrats want to focus on logical alternatives to restoring the White House to Democratic control.
Even as our favorite has given every one of us the word that he is not running for President and Karen Wunderman reinforcing for all of us to go about our lives without trying to gain and change Al Gore's mind in not running for the Presidency.
Naturally, the Republicans want all of us to not concern ourselves with the other Democratic candidates so as to dilute our vote come November 2008. We should all think hard and really gather our unity toward picking one of our currently running Democratic candidates so that we can win the White House in 2008.
I know all of the Democrats on AlGore.org are very mature and solid in their views and we were all deeply disappointed when Al Gore informed us through Karen Wunderman that he has no intention of running for the Presidency and as Karen so astutely told us that the our chances should be focused elsewhere as the chances of getting Al Gore to run for the Presidency were about zero.
So let's take a few days and recover from our devastating reality check of Al Gore not running and get serious and regroup so that we can go to our second option of utilizing our block vote for one of the other Democratic candidates that is currently running. I know we can do it and again let us all be aware that the Republicans are already in our midst and wanting to divert our attention as LINDAIN SFNM, has been utilizing those immature and hate mongering tactics of dividing us all.
If we want a Democrat in the White House in January 2009, then we have to really wake up to what we are facing and know that the Republicans do not have our best interests at heart. I think most of you are battle ready Democrats and fully understand that this time around for the 2008 Presidency, it a very crucial time for us indeed. The Bush administration will be leaving the successor to the White House a terrible dilemma of correcting alot of the wrong that has been done.
So Democrats, I wanted to reiterate that the Republicans are working already and they know they are coming from behind, but they will use every available means to divert the Democratic vote in anyway they can. We all remember the 2000 Presidential race and how it effected all of us by giving us a President that the U.S. Supreme Court decided for us. Let us remember those lessons and focus on the days ahead. Thank you.

I know you must be familiar that this is the algore.org site. Of which you have been reminded nicely several times to respect. This is not another candidates site, any political party site or an open blog. By ignoring these facts and what the people have nicely expressed about these known facts, we can only assume you wish to be a troll coming here to be antagonistic.
And that is how folks no doubt vew your childish rants to keep coming to the ALGORE.org site, intentionally posting such negative remarks and false statements.
But as most people are drawn to Al Gore, obviously you must be too, as you demonstrate your continuous involvement on the Al gore.org site. Or you just are looking for attention.

Re: As before, the Karen Wunderman message
Posted November 20th, 2007 by gorewon2000 in Al Gore Politics
Al Gore's office has contacted the staff at AlGore.org and instructed them to cease with petition efforts to get Gore onto the state primary ballots. Attached below is the message that was sent out to organizers in response to this communication.
So where does this leave us?
Unfortunately, it looks like this is closing the door. Without Gore's name being on the ballot in the primary, the chance of him becoming the Democratic nominee for president in 2008 is just about zero. Some in the draft movement are still talking about the possibility of having a deadlocked convention, with voters being split between the candidates and none receiving a majority of delegates and so winning the nomination outright. In that event, it's possible that delegates could choose Gore as a unity candidate, and apparently Gore has kept open the possibility of running as the nominee after being so chosen.
That option, however, does not present any obvious volunteer actions to take on behalf of a Gore candidacy. The primary will either deadlock or it won't.
Others are talking about supporting a write-in campaign. I will be writing him in on mine.
For this group, though, this is pretty much the end.
We can take heart that the Suburban group gathered over 600 signatures to place Al Gore's name on the Illinois ballot, and over 400 to have my name listed as a Gore delegate. We helped swell the ranks of people in attendance at Gore's book signing at Border's, and helped get 200 lapel stickers onto attendees of that event. We collected more than 200 signatures on petitions asking Gore to run.
Keep that fighting spirit. We still have work to do as activists, even without Gore as our nominee for president. Aragorn has refused to take his rightful throne in the White City, but the battle goes on. This setback may make our efforts seem hopeless, but sometimes it's the hopeless causes that most need us to fight for them.
After all, there never was much hope... just a fool's hope.
Stand strong.

Ending the petition drives to get Gore on the ballot
Date : Mon, Nov 12, 2007 11:04 PM
Dear Organizers:
We have received a communication from a member of Al Gore's staff discouraging our efforts to put Al Gore's name on any primary ballots. This includes California, New York, Massachusetts, and the write-in effort in New Hampshire, as well as any other states that are working to get him on the ballot. Accordingly, effective immediately, we are recommending that all groups cease their signature collection and related fund-raising activities.
Some of you may wonder about the discrepancy between this message and the one sent out last week. We have attempted to bring you information as we receive it, and only information that is credible, and last week's information came from credible sources, but not sources from within Gore's office. Unfortunately, today's communication comes from Gore's staff and trumps the information we received last week.
We're all reeling and in a bit of a state of shock, and our main objective right now is to get people to stop working for something we've been discouraged from pursuing. Beyond that, we recognize that for many this will feel like getting hit by a Mack truck. It's impossible to convey the deep disappointment we all feel, but we've been to hell and back again with this, and just as we hung together in the past, we'll grieve together and get support from the community we built. Regardless of how we attempt to deal with this blow, we should at least now be able to turn our attention back to family, friends, and jobs that have been neglected over these long months of hard work. We built a community of support and supporters, and I believe our lives were enriched for having known each other and worked together for this cause we believe in so strongly. Many of us have formed permanent bonds with people in this movement that transcend the political ideology that brought us together in the first place. These are ties that will last a lifetime.
We'll be putting out more communications in the days ahead, but for now we felt it was urgent to get this information out to people so they wouldn't put any more time or money into the effort. I hope we can turn our grief and disappointment into something more positive and productive in the future.
There are no words to express our sorrow at having to deliver this news, but I'm afraid it is real, and the request needs to be heeded.
With deepest regrets,
--Karen

You've made it quite clear of wha you are
Maybe you want to post this letter that you must think we all didn't see a few more times and ignore everyone on this site .
As you wish to ignore all facts and place false statements in with others.
I'm sure you received the many letter Karen wrote that specifically stated that we were contiinuing with our efforts, only not for the ballots. Which makes sense to many folks, if he couldn't be on all of them, or if he wished to handle things differently, he shouldn't be on any. Regardless of what YOU may have thought, it seems a good idea he isn't taking advice from you.
And you may remember Karen's other letter where she reminded folks of Mr. Gore's recent interview where he asked his supporters, "“If I do get back involved in the political system at some point in the future - well, keep that energy stored up and let's have a go at it then.”
and
her latest email that we are working on a new phase and will be in touch soon on that.
But really, this boils down to your continuous posting on the Al Gore site about supporting other candidates. Now isn't that silly. You obviously must think our efforts and the possibilities are still there, or you wouldn't constantly coming here to spam everyone. REALLY OBVIOUS considering you had to post more of your rants on a diary entry that wasn't even mentioning the success of Australia's new PM .
So one more time. Respect the Al Gore supporters and as they've indicated. This is a site to support Al Gore.

Great news!
Getting the right people in office with help garner the international support needed to compliment Al Gore's climate crisis news. Australia will be especially important, as one of our allies, to put pressure on our next president to ensure that the climate change issue becomes higher on the priority list.
Thanks, Linda. I hadn't heard about this on the cable news...no, they're busy talking about gift cards for holiday gifts.
Damn, more fires in California!
Thanks, Linda, for posting this! You rock!

Respect Al Gore's Decision
Some are getting very defensive in finding out that Al Gore does not want to run for President. I am equally disappointed shall we say as I have followed Gore since 2000 and know what the Bush Administration's devastating consequences that the next hopefully Democratic President will be left to deal with. There is no need for name calling that only trivializes what lies before us. Fact is we need to unite and move forward and deal with the words that Karen Wunderman portrayed to us as best we can. It was like running into a brick wall for trying profusely to get Al Gore to run. I just hope we don't let this opportunity slip through our fingers and allow a Republican candidate to be the next President of the United States. I am a realist in what awaits us and no matter what spin we try and put on it, the result comes out the same, Al Gore will not be the next President of the United States. It is traumatic, but reality dictates that we organize and back the one Democratic candidate that is currently running and put our total efforts in getting him/her elected to the White House. So rather than waste our time, energy, and expense in making Al Gore for President 2008 signs we should put our money where our mouth is and truely back one of the current running Democratic candidates. That should not sound childish as one would think, it's only logical and sensible in light of the Karen Wunderman story. Thank you.
Let's clear up this misconception
You say we should respect Al Gore's decision. Al Gore did not make a decision, at least not publicly. Al Gore didn't tell us to stop all draft activities. We were merely asked to please not put his name on state primary ballots. There are many who believe that Gore would accept a draft at the convention. We're seeking confirmation of that. So please, get "the Karen Wunderman story" correct. Al Gore has NOT made a decision not to run. He is on record as saying he has not made the Sherman statement, and that's as recently as a couple of weeks ago. He may never give a Sherman statement, but until he does, there is no decision for us to respect other than to stop the ballot drives.
