Al Gore's statement on winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize:
I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. This award is even more meaningful because I have the honor of sharing it with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -- the world's pre-eminent scientific body devoted to improving our understanding of the climate crisis -- a group whose members have worked tirelessly and selflessly for many years. We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level.
My wife, Tipper, and I will donate 100 percent of the proceeds of the award to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan non-profit organization that is devoted to changing public opinion in the U.S. and around the world about the urgency of solving the climate crisis.

With all respect to your position and role, I do address the case to you calling unto your attention to the present opportunity we all share for the creation of a suitable atmosphere for the promotion of cooperation and understanding among Members State and other Countries with the official proposal of Global Peace and Ceasefire to the United Nations as detailed on http://www.peace365.org on the basis of the UN General Assembly Resolution 55/282 (A/Res/55/282), http://www.peaceoneday.org/page/unresolution , put forward by the UK and Costa Rican governments.
We all have been invited by the United Nation in paragraph 3 of the aforementioned resolution to cooperate with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire:
3. Invites all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, regional and non-governmental organisations and individuals to commemorate, in an appropriate manner, the Intenational Day of Peace, including through education and public awareness to cooperate with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire.

We would like to extend this invitation and campaign for peace for the rest of the days.

Once you secure the nomination the Clintons will campaign for you also. The nation is really behind you. We know you would be the best president of all the candidates. You will be making a huge statement and difference in the world, bigger than only a Nobel prize winner can do.
Al Gore Burma Needs You Now
I need to see newly minted Laureates Al Gore and Jimmy Carter gather together all the other Nobel Peace Prize winners and travel to Burma Now.
They need to demand en mass to meet with fellow imprisoned Noble Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. They need to remain in Burma as physical witnesses until she is released and Democracy is restored to the people of Burma.
What is the point of having the Nobel Peace Prize if any Junta can imprison any laureate any where and anytime they want for how ever long they want, as in the case of Aung San Suu Kyi and the monks of Burma?

May I humbly suggest that, on November 4th, you announce your Presidential candidacy or your endorsement for whoever you feel could do a better job?

Congratulations on receiving the Nobel Prize. I am one of millions of people who feel you are the most deserving person for all the work you have done on behalf of our nation and our world.
I don't have to tell you how many of us want you to run for President. But we also respect your decision because we realize the magnitude of a decision like this on your life and that of your family.
I only ask what I've asked right along - that if you are not running, that you endorse a candidate who will support your work. This may be one of the most important decisions you make.
The next President of the United States will have a profound influence on what happens to the health of our planet. You can have a profound influence on deciding who that person is.
I've said in this forum that I am supporting Barack Obama because I believe like you, he has the understanding of the dangers to our planet and is willing to commit to making the changes you have championed.
If you feel that same way, I hope you will endorse him. It seems as if there is an opportunity to move the United States in giant steps toward a better future. I believe you hold many of the keys in your hands.

What's next?
Obviously this would be the perfect time for him to throw his hat in. If he doesn't, it would appear that Hillary Clinton (who turned against the war only as it became unpopular, and who has the weakest position on climate change of any of the Democratic candidates) will be the Democratic Nominee. I find it difficult to believe that anyone who regards climate change as the single greatest most pressing issue facing humanity today would be comfortable with this, or for that matter, with a presidential nominee who makes decisions on issues of fundamental importance based upon how popular their positions will make them.
