Sustaining ourselves

I'd like to talk about such a thing as yet has not really hit the big time, in the world of public thought and opinion. Sustainability, it is. It's the word. I don't hear it.
Our future is only a pipe dream, if our current ways are not sustainable.
Let's talk about it.
Me, I'm on a farm, hoping to learn methods of sustaining our little community, should society break down and food become scarce, once oil is triple what it is now, and maybe if the climate radically alters, and the flowers don't get pollinated, and if a bomb goes off, and, or...you know what I mean. I have a godson. I have to think of him.
Also, I have elderly parents. I am really glad to hear they've laid in a stock of sleeping pills, should their lives become awful, too much to bear. They're very happy now, but - they aren't stupid. So many friends die long lingering deaths, mind going first sometimes, that's silly, to think that it is right to keep such a suffering person from peace - especially when they want to go, and only really, if they want to go. Awful, that people should Have to live, when they don't want to.
If there's a dirty bomb? I'd want the ready, too. Very hard to kill yourself. Make plans first. Fucking up is not good. Been there.
Think about your future. Lay in food. Water. And anaesthetic. Decide what you'll do. Talk about it. This is not a sin. It's called a jailhouse philosophy, I learned, but I've espoused it all my life: prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.
And remember. National Guard sucks. FEMA sucks. And there are many, many guns out there, and nasty people.
Let's talk. What's going to happen? I want Gore in charge.

Sustainability is what being a Democrat is all about. As the failed Republican criminals in our government continue to misrepresent an illegitimate war without end for freedom, Democrats will continue to rise up against it in ever growing numbers. We will replace this illegitimate Republican war on freedom with the Four Freedoms as set forth by FDR.
In the process, Democratic leadership will restore the means to self sufficiency to all Americans regardless of race, creed, gender, or sexual preference. Democratic leadership will extend the American hand of cooperation across all seas in a global effort to save our planet. We will Move On from this dark time of criminal incompetence throughout our Government, to a better day for all Americans.
