Becoming Obama
Posted June 27th, 2008 by gailwindsOur country is facing enormous challenges. I hear Obama "fine tuning" his position on these issues, some of which have been called flip flopping. But I think as the reality of an Obama presidency draws near a clearer view of the problems and the solutions requires some adjustments. That said, I want Obama to stand stedfast against the things we have discussed and determined outrageous. His wave of support is based on our perception that he can create change. And change we must.
Happy Birthday Al!!!

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Legislature formally apologized Wednesday for the state’s “shameful” history of slavery, joining five other states that have expressed public regret for what Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential candidate, recently called America’s “original sin.”
Homeland Security My Ass!
Posted March 26th, 2008 by gailwindsWASHINGTON -- The U.S. military mistakenly shipped parts from a Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile to Taiwan, Pentagon officials announced Tuesday in the second incident to come to light in recent months in which nuclear weapons were mishandled.
Pentagon officials said the material sent to Taiwan consisted of four electrical fuses for the ICBM nose cones. The fuses, used to trigger nuclear weapons, do not contain nuclear material.
Race, sex, age - the politics of 'isms'

Finally, we can stop talking about which is the larger hindrance of the 2008 campaign, racism or sexism.
Geraldine Ferraro, the Democrats' 1984 vice presidential nominee, recast the issue in a way that might make sense to someone who had lived on another planet instead of the United States for the past two centuries: Barack Obama, she suggested, did not have to overcome societal attitudes about race and power. He was the beneficiary of them.

The Conventional Wisdom: Gore, More Than Before - Part II
Posted March 12th, 2008 by gailwindsPosted 3-12-08
In terms of the Conventional Wisdom, there are two routes for the Democrats to get to Denver with the party intact. The first would be a move of uncommitted super delegates to the undeclared candidacy of the implicit third force in the race, Al Gore. Under normal circumstances one could not imagine any situation in which Hillary would allow this nomination to be pried from her cold, dead fingers, but these are not normal circumstances and Gore is no longer a normal politician.
New York could get first African-American governor
Posted March 10th, 2008 by gailwindsNY Governor Elliot Spitzer was caught with his pants down, well, not quite but he was caught on a wiretap linking him to a prostitution ring. Campaigning on ethical reform I believe he will have to step down. His Lt. Governor is Patterson, a legally blind African American male. This is pretty huge. This is Hillary's new home state. I'm sensing a lot of mileage out of this one!
