WE NEED A HAPPILY EVER AFTER
I must first apologize for my negligence. I totally forgot about this blog! I found it by accident on google, because I mistakenly put my screen name on the search engine! Yes, I can be profoundly absent-minded once in awhile. It must mean I'm human, after all. Thank goodness I remembered my password!
The new blog title says it all. I'm eagerly anticipating the departure of Bush and Co. from Washington, D.C.
The nightmare is just about over, and a new dawn is approaching--with clouds on the horizon. "Red sky at night, sailors delight; red sky at morning, sailors take warning." There are so many misguided and ill-conceived policies which will demand the attention of the new president, that it will seem as if he'll need fairy-tale aid. For instance, the little man who spins straw into gold; or a sorceress who lifts the evil curse, and everyone will live happily ever after.
We have only one name brand, and he's already proven to be just another failed suitor for the presidency. I speak of Barack Obama. I was flabbergasted when he voted 'yes' to keep the FISA bill. I felt betrayed. I have no hope of him now to actually effect his change he advocated during the primaries. I was sooooooo for him. I realize no one is perfect, but that was THE litmus test that would have proved he was going to really and truly be different. He won't be; he's just another politician like all the others-thinking only of himself and the power he'll have.
I have the sinking feeling he'll retain most of the presidential signing statements that took away some of our most valuable Constitutional rights regarding habeus corpus, freedom of the press, assembly, speech. He's already snubbing news anchors that he personally dislikes-Chris Wallace, for one. (Although, Wallace is a pretty weak excuse-he pisses ME off. But, all the press anchors should have a shot at being around someone doing something momentous.) He's behaving as if he's already in the White House. And I heartily disapprove of alienating the press corps, whatever their particular bias.
The other candidate, Brand X, or John McCain, if you will, has become a political joke in this campaign-
flip-flopping on issues, making ludicrous statements about the subprime mortgage, saying things like "it's all psychological" and all "our faults;" or his campaign people trying to spin the damage with more stupidity. He denies his statements he made on talk shows and interviews; he gets his supposed expert knowledge about the surge consistently wrong. His mistakes are removing him from the people he supposedly wants to lead with his so-called expertise. He makes ME wonder how he ever became an officer. I damn sure don't want him as president. We already had a moron, we don't need a senile moron. And IF he were elected by some twist of cosmic fate, he would perpetuate the already failed policies of Bush43. Which means, he'll get angry when he discovers he, too, has to defend them in front of cameras to us and the press corps. Translate, enemies lists, again.
I stated he is out of touch with the people; he's out of touch with reality, and definitely out of touch with the rest of the world. Making a choice, I'm going with Obama, the lesser of two evils.

It won't come easy
Hello carniehands57!
I'm glad to see you've found your way back to AlGore.org.
So, now it's late July 2008. Al Gore has chosen not to run. Barack Obama has now won the Democratic Presidential nomination and been wholeheartedly endorsed by Al Gore. I agree with you in not understanding or supporting Obama's position on the FISA issue. However, if that's the only major complaint we have so far, we should be pretty damned pleased at where we are. It's either gonna be Barack or 4 more years of Republican misrule. That's not a close call.
The People, Not the Powerful,
Vote Democratic

Order without Liberty, and Liberty without Order are equally destructive.-Theodore Roosevelt
No, it don't come easy. Liked the reference to that song, btw! I agree with you too, that if the FISA bill is the only major complaint, we're mighty lucky and should be grateful.
