Why was Gore not on the MoveON list to vote for?
Hi, John, Thanks for your question.
Gore is not a candidate at this time. MoveOn only allowed candidates to be listed on the ballot to be invited to participate and to answer the questions. That is why Gore was not on the list for MoveOn members to vote for Gore to be invited to participate, and why we could not vote for Gore after the Town Halls.
It is frustrating for us as organizers, but Gore if fully occupied with talking to independents, Republicans, non-political folks, Chambers of Commerce, corporation types, etc. about global warming. Those are the people Gore has to win over for him to win big in Nov. 08. Right now all the other Dem candidates for president are not welcome to those crucial groups. So Gore has an open field, and to his credit he is making the best of it to help the environment, and his own chances to win by a large margin in Nov. 08.
Think about it, John. Are any of the other Dem candidates for Pres getting any where near the positive media coverage that Gore continues to get day after day? I do not feel they are.
If Gore would become a candidate right now or soon (before the 7 international concerts on July 7 for Live Earth), that would immediately close off his entre to the above groups and also lessen the constructive organization building and increasing positive publicity for Gore and his efforts.
At the Town Hall I attended I got more than 60% to sign my Urge Gore to Run petitions.
